The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure™

It's official... Today, I signed up for the The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure™ race... This a 60-mile walk in San Francisco.

Every 3 minutes, a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer. That's 1 in 8 women! :(

Without a cure, one person will die from breast cancer every 13 minutes in the United States! And somewhere in the world, a woman dies from breast cancer every 69 seconds. :((

Am I crazy, or what? After 2 ankle surgeries, to be walking for 3 days, 60 miles... No, I am not crazy! I am just passionate about raising awareness about Breast Cancer, and to make a difference.

Simply because, everyone deserves the chance of a lifetime and you can give that gift by donating now.

Watch this space to see how I get on, and what I'm trying to achieve... So tell me, how will you make a difference? :)

Trapped Nerve! :(

In August I fell... :( This is a month after my first surgery... My official diagnosis is "severe denervation to the extensor digitorum brevis indicating an injury to the most terminal motor branch of the deep peroneal nerve" - which basically means a trapped nerve!

I went in for another surgery on Monday 6th December.  And, below is the result with one big massive cast! :(

Being Positive and Being Realistic...

There is a fine line between being positive and being realistic.  That fine line is called many things... two words which I've been recently using to describe this fine line are "stupidity" and "blindness" ...

Hmmm...

I have seen the light. With 76 days to go, and a sore ankle from an injury over 8 months ago (yes, a long time ago), I simply cannot risk further injury or those sleepness nights with the pain anymore!

I am now being realistic. And there is nothing wrong with that!

I'm still positive though. I think I should also change the title of this blog as well now to something else... meanwhile, it's still my dream, so maybe I'll keep it up for a little longer.

More Walking!

Umm... Car less and Id less...  My wallet, cell phone and camera case were stolen this weekend...  So, I walked  1.6 miles to the DMV and back... and then to the Bank!

I getting there...

Oh, and Happy Birthday Radhika! :)

No Car! Just Legs!

Had a little car hiccup on Thursday. With Valentines Day approaching, and love in the air, I think my car had fallen in love with another car, and got just too close!

I decided to take the opportunity and not be a lazy bum... and I walked 3.8 miles home from work today. And that too on a Friday evening.

Whoohoo! Here I come!  I CAN DO IT!

Great start to my first week!

Great start to my first week! Really?

I fell down at the end of August. I thought I was fine, as I could walk. Painfully. I was going dancing 4 weekends running, on a swollen, tender and sore ankle.  I finally went to get an x-ray - and it was fine. However, the pain and swelling was concerning me, and my Doctor had given me a referral letter for to see an Orthopedist. So I did.  I was put in an ankle brace, and had to attend physical therapy twice a week for five weeks.  I had torn some soft tissue, and was loosing muscle slack. If there is no improvement, then I would need an MRI and maybe surgery! YIKES!

I had my MRI 2 weeks ago, and have just come back from my MRI results... Good news is that I won't need surgery! Bad news is that I've had a cortisone shot in my foot! I have a bruised bone, have nerve damage and scar tissue.  The cortisone will help with the swelling and pain. However, initially, there will be swelling and pain for 24-48 hours. :( At least once the swelling goes down I can wear my girly shoes, dresses and leave my jeans for weekends only! :)

So, it's not all that bad!  I just can't go to the gym until Sunday now.

Great start to my first week? Yes, of course it is! I'm on a mission here, and I CAN DO IT!
